Bacon & Eggs, Coffee, Non-Halal
Habitual Coffee Salcedo Village might look like a small cafe operated by friends. But it is not what it seems. It is a small chain that operates within Metro Manila. What's interesting is they even have a micro roaster within the premises that only sits about 20 pax.
Small as it is, it still packs a wallop when it comes to offering a good caffeine fix and a delightful breakfast. Opting for a classic breakfast choice, I ordered the Bacon and Eggs on Sourdough. What stood out was the subtle yet ingenious addition of a twist of lemon on the bacon. The zesty citrus note elevated the savoury profile of the bacon, adding a layer of complexity that was both surprising and delightful.
Lemon, with its bright and citrusy notes, possesses the ability to cut through the richness of savory dishes. In the case of the bacon, the lemon acted as a flavour enhancer, balancing the saltiness with a hint of acidity. This unexpected twist showcased the chef's creativity in harmonizing flavours.
While one of the eggs leaned slightly towards being over-cooked, the overall experience was not overshadowed. The yolk's creamy texture still complemented the dish, highlighting the kitchen's commitment to quality despite a minor imperfection.
Their carefully brewed coffee was a good complement to the bacon and eggs. The robust aroma and rich flavour profile of the coffee acted as a wake-up call, setting the stage for the rest of the day.
The space at Habitual Coffee Salcedo Village, including a handful of outdoor seating options, exuded a sense of charm that set the perfect ambiance for a leisurely breakfast. The limited seating added to the exclusivity, creating a warm and inviting environment.
