Pho, Halal
Pho Nam used to be Pho Vietz and used to be non-halal, but is now pork-free. The food was one of the better Vietnamese foods I've had, but I also haven't had enough to say it's the best. I vouch for their chicken spring rolls and their steamed flat rice rolls with minced chicken. For some reason, the fillings remind me of loh ma kai. Both are in the snacks category - a win for me!
The Hue-style spicy beef noodle soup was flavorful. Slurping it felt like enjoying a more rugged, rebellious sibling of the popular pho. I guess we could equate it with almost the vibe of a prawn noodle. From the scent, I think it's leaning towards lemongrass and fermented shrimp.
The pho nam dry beef noodle was equally enjoyable. It's a soy-based dry rice noodle served with a bowl of pho soup with the meat fixing. My version of the best bite for this dish is as follow;- on a spoon - carefully place some of the dry noodle, one slice of chili padi and one leaf of daun selasih (it comes with the serving and you can ask for extra).
The price was affordable - you won't hate them at the cashier counter. We paid about RM80+ for 2 noodles and 3 snacks/appetizer.
The display of their Halal certificates under the name of Sri Segar Corporation where their food comes from.
