Asam Laksa, Street Food, Pork-Free
Discovered this restaurant, 49 Asam Laksa, by accident yesterday afternoon, as i was walking to my parked car from gleneagles hospital. from a far i saw ’49 asam laksa’ and since it has been a very long time i have not try laksa, i decided to try it. Actually i had been around that area during our office lunch hour but mostly trying the mamak mee goreng, the savoy teochew porridge or the chinese economy rice.
as i walked along, i saw this restaurant i haven’t seen before with a stall saying ‘49 asam laksa’. it was next to the savoy teochew porridge stall which i had been a couple of times. hmm.... how come i didn’t see this laksa restaurant then. maybe quite newly opened. then as i approached the stall to go inside, i noticed it is not only selling laksa but many other types of food. the stall that says ’49 asam laksa’, well sells laksa but then there is another stall called ‘sapot’s kitchen’ that sells nasi lemak, toast, pasta and set rice.
i had the laksa dined in. big at RM7.50. quite delicious. broth was good, thick enough, except it could do with being a bit less sour. noodle was very soft, easy to munch and swallow.
i tapau (takeaway) back the salted chicken rice set. comes with a sunny side up egg (as most rice set do!). i love the salted chicken very much. delicious. the er… salted egg sauce was quite a lot and can spread on rice to eat (i don’t like to eat plain white rice, so spreading the sauce on it, was good for me). luckily the chicken and the sauce was not salty at all (eh?). actually i love anything with salted egg, like pasta.
