Tuaran mee as the name suggests is a noodle for the town of Tuaran. If you go to Tuaran, north of the city of Kota Kinabalu, you may still find the original shop in a wooden house near the center of town, the kitchen darkened by layers of charcoal soot. A tad closer is this shop in Inanam named (what else) Tuaran Mee Restoran. There are a lot of variations.
My recommendation is to try the mix (RM13) with the addition of Lehing (RM4). Lehing is a local rice wine. Whilst it makes the noodles slightly wetter and sweeter, nothing feels more decadent than alchohol, lard and carnohydrates. Be still my heart. So if you’re a self declared foodie and happen to be in Kota Kinabalu, you have to eat here at Tuaran Mee Restoran.
