Renowned Thai chef Ton Tassanakajohn, best known for his Michelin-starred restaurant Le Du and top ranking on Asia's 50 Best Restaurants 2023 list, has chosen Penang as the location for his latest culinary venture, SOOD. This strategic choice reflects the chef's deep respect for Malaysia's rich culinary heritage and Penang's vibrant food culture.

Chef Ton, a rising star in the global culinary scene and a subject of international media attention through Netflix and SBS On Demand's "Chefs Uncut" series, has crafted SOOD as more than just a restaurant. The name 'Sood' means 'ultimate,' and it embodies the chef's commitment to pushing culinary boundaries while celebrating local flavors.
The restaurant's concept emerged from an intensive six-month research process, with the design team deeply immersing themselves in George Town's historical landscape. Chef Ton's decision to open in Penang was deliberate – a testament to his desire to create a dining experience that bridges global culinary trends with local Malaysian traditions.

Grilled River Prawn with Sweet Fish Sauce. Tender, juicy prawn meets rich, sweet fish sauce in a perfectly balanced blend of smoky and sweet for an irresistible flavour explosion.

Grilled Squid and zesty Passion Fruit Sauce! Smoky, sweet, and tangy—a bite you won’t forget!
