Dim Sum, Non-Halal
Wondering what to eat for brunch in Ipoh before we head back home. I turned to my trusted Chiefeater.com for idea. A reviewer commented that Ming Court Hong Kong Dim Sum is a local sort after joint. So we head out to find it. It was situated right opposite the famous Foh Sun dim sum restaurant. We were greeted with long line of Q of about 30 people waiting for their seats in this fulliy packed two lots shop, sign of good food. We were given a number to be called, without waiting too long in about 20 minutes our number was called.
The waiters were very efficient to bring assortments of dim sum trays one after another. We quickly and happily settled our teeth into our orders being hungry without having our breakfast.
First we find their Lor Mai Kai was freshly made. mushroom and juicy lap cheong and meat were good.
Char Siew Pau was soft and fluffy with fragrance char siew meat, yum.
The fu chuk stuffed with prawn and mushroom was also very satisfying to eat, nice crunchy chew of the other layer fu chuk balanced with fresh infills.
The highlight for me was the radish cake, warm and very comforting to eat, best I eaten so far.
We order extra portion of Lor Mai Kai, Radish cake and Stuffed Fu Chuk. The desert come in the offering of ground peanut mochi which was above our expectations good, soft and not too sweet & we ended up order a second helping.
Overall we find this shop serves freshly cooked dim sum which is enjoyable to eat compares with some place where the dim sum had been left to rest for some time.
However there were a few servings that were not our fancy, ie the fish paste was too soft on the bottom portion, the har kow despite received positive review was mushy, both perhaps were undercooked. The siew mai had strong taste of boric acid flavour which did not stand out positively among all the other high quality dish.
We end up ordered more than 15 plates within the three of us, a testament to how much we enjoyed the dim sum here that we had to ta pow some left over, not much. All in all our bill came to be RM91.
We left Ipoh with happy stomachs and glad that we found Ming Court Hong Kong Dim Sum. Definitely will recommend to anyone looking for fresh and good dim sum in Ipoh.
