I passed by PJ State at noon and suddenly remembered that there were many traditional delicacies in the old Medan Selera next to the market, so I couldn’t help but go in to try some.
As soon as I walked in, I saw several tables of diners eating “Braised Pork Braised Noodles”, which seemed very delicious! I quickly looked for it and found out it was Lai Ji Xiao Chao, a time-honored restaurant that has been in business here for more than ten years, specializing in single-seat vegetable rice and fried noodles, and the lady boss is the chef!
This dish of stir fried yee me with roast pork is really amazing. The thick fried yee mee are full of black soy sauce, and it is fragrant and a little burnt. The most important thing is that the portion of roast pork is super generous. You can get several thick pieces for RM12. It is crispy and a little chewy, and it tastes so good~~ The boss also explained that you must scoop it before eating to allow the sauce to evenly coat the noodles, making the taste more fragrant.
After eating something salty, of course you have to have some dessert! I ran to the shop opposite to buy their famous red bean fried dough, a bowl is only RM5, and it is full of red bean filling in one bite. The highlight is that the boss Jessie uses 100% Malacca coconut sugar, which is sweet but not greasy, and paired with the fragrant coconut milk, it is really perfect!

This Medan Selera in PJ Old Town is indeed a hidden version of the old taste. Come back next time to discover more delicious food!
