Snacks, Street Food
Yew char kueh is a very popular snack in Penang. Not only is this deep fried pastry a favourite breakfast food together with kopi-O, it is beloved by many as a snack from morning till night. It is also served with bak kut teh as well as rice porridge as its light, airy and chewy texture complement well with the broth of the dishes.

This yau char kueh stall is one of the three stalls along Jalan Raja Uda, Butterworth which are operated by the same family.

They have been in this deep-frying business for decades. Besides yau char kueh, ham chim peng and wah chee are also available.
