Char Koay Teow, Street Food, Non-Halal
When you do not want to wait for an hour or more at the champion’s stall and the runner-up is too far on the mainland side, a visit to the 2nd runner-up, Kong Long Char Koay Teow, is good enough.

Roadside parking is a big challenge here but there is a big parking lot at the side entrance of the Kek Lok Si Temple just a short distance away.

Beng Chin Garden is a popular kopitiam located very near to the iconic Kek Lok Si Temple in Ayer Itam, Penang. Furthermore, you can sit under the fan in the kopitiam with your favourite drink while waiting. No need to stand in a long queue at the roadside which would make you so hungry and angry that you want to flip the wok.

The char koay teow here will not disappoint you, it has enough smoky, charred flavour (wok hei), not too oily and just nicely moist. Kong Long char koay teow with egg, prawns, Chinese sausage and cockles, at only RM8.50 per plate.

The proprietor, Mr Khoo, is friendly and he takes note of your special requests intently amidst his continuous stirring of the wok.
