After watching food influencer Mark Wein youtube video we decided to drive to Puchong to check out Puchong Mess. It is situated on a first floor shop in a location in Puchong which one will easily missed have it not for the positive social media reviews. I first read about it few years ago.
One is to take off their shoes and leave it along the steps leading to the first floor.
Once we entered, we were greeted by a lady seated on what looks like a home study table. The place is small about 20'x36' on one floor, it connect to another shop thru a door way. The ambience is without frill much like visiting somebody house. We were promptly attended to and served as we sat along one of the long table lines along the wall. Reminds me of how during my childhood days indian temple serves guests of wedding ceremonies seated on floor with food served on banana leave, only that now we have table and chairs.
First we were served rice with veges and choice of curries be it chicken, fish or dall. My chicken curry have good portion of chicken meat in it. The indian rice is of good quality, not soggy type, warm and goes well with the curry.
Mutton is well flavoured.
Fried chicken is come hot and very well seasoned.
We also ordered fried sotong.
Food taste good much like eating in an indian aunty house, like what I usually did following my dad visited his indian road workers house during depavali. I order masala tea which come in a cute small stainless steel cup, well creamy with nice herbs flovour.
We could barely finished the food and I had to seat leaning back sligjtly at the end due to full stomach much like my younger days after enjoyed a full meal whenever my mum cooked curry chicken.
Overall it is a good place to go whenever one look for simple and good no frills south indian food. Our bill came up to RM54 for two banana leaf rice set, portion each of mutton varuval, fried chicken, fried sotong and a cup masala tea. They serves warm water during meal for every person which was nice.
Overall we rate this place positively.
