Finally tried Chef J at OKR yesterday. The verdict : 6.5/10
The spiked chicken (literally chicken on a spike), like Vlad the Impaler was a 6/10. A tad tough and overcooked and seasoning was uneven. It was a spectacle nonetheless.
The steamed fish was also visually arresting - in fact most of the dishes wheeled in to our room was - but lacked consistency. Worse than meats, overcooked seafood is a sin. Especially to such a good fish. The spots where the seasoning and done-ness coincided, it was a 7/10. Alas these spots were far and few in between so the overall score was 6/10 for this fish
The claypot rice was perhaps the best dish of the night. Pork lard was sprinkled all over - so it has to be 7/10.
The yong tau foo starter was also 7/10 - I enjoyed the stuffed hadron peppers.
