Street Food
A visit to Lik Tin Hainan Kopitiam in February 2026 revealed a significant shift from the positive early reports of 2025. Initially praised for its owner-operated stalls, the establishment now appears to lack that original artisanal touch. While the environment remains clean and comfortable, the current food options are less than appetizing. The reason why I went there was for a highly-regarded prawn mee stall that once drew crowds but that is no longer in operation.
The Hainan Chicken Rice (RM9.00) was particularly underwhelming. The chicken was served cold, which significantly hampered the dining experience.

Although the rice was marginally better in flavor than the chicken, it also suffered from being served at an unappealing room temperature.

Hainan Chicken Rice: RM9.00
Score: 6.5/10
M – Meal Value
At RM9.00, the price is standard for a kopitiam setting, but the value is poor given the quality. Serving both the chicken and the rice cold detracts from the meal’s worth, making it a disappointing choice even at a lower price point.
Score: 5.5/10
V – Venue & Vibes
The kopitiam earns its highest marks for its physical environment. It is a clean and comfortable space, offering a pleasant atmosphere that unfortunately is not matched by the current quality of the food.
Score: 7.5/10
X – X-Factor
There is currently a lack of a defining X-factor at this establishment. The departure of the signature prawn mee and the transition away from owner-operated stalls have left the kopitiam without a compelling reason for a return visit.
Score: 6.5/10
