Western
The morning streetscape of PJ Old Town is a familiar tapestry of legacy kopitiams, but Confit Cafe introduces a distinctly contemporary, serene pulse to the neighborhood. Stepping inside, the interior architecture immediately captures your attention with its bright white walls, elegant arched doorways, and a striking service counter clad in deep blue mosaic tiles. It is a highly pleasant, minimalist setting that feels entirely detached from the frantic energy of the streets outside.

I ordered their Warm & Hearty breakfast platter, which comes priced at RM19.00.

The assembly is straightforward: a slice of sourdough topped with scrambled eggs, flanked by four cocktail sausages and a simple garden salad dressed with sesame sauce. Plus a side of consommé. On execution, the fare proved to be entirely acceptable, though it didn’t cross the threshold into outstanding. The scrambled eggs were properly cooked and seasoned, but the generic choice of sausages kept the plate tethered firmly to standard café fare.

The coffee, however, fared noticeably better. The Hot White coffee, featuring their “Natsu” chocolatey and nutty roast profile, was a technically superior pour. Boasting a robust body and a velvety microfoam surface complete with detailed latte art, it easily outperformed the food components.

Warm & Hearty Platter: RM19.00
White Coffee (Hot – Natsu Blend): RM12.00
Total: RM34.10 (inclusive of 10% Service Charge)
Average per pax: RM34.10 (1 pax)
Score: 7.3/10
M – Meal Value
At under RM35 net for both a hot breakfast plate and a premium craft coffee, the price is expected for many parts of PJ except Old Town prior to Contour opening in this area. While the food components rely on standard ingredients, the overall pricing remains accessible for a modern café setting.
Score: 7.0/10
V – Venue & Vibes
The design execution of the space is simple but elegant. The deep blue tile accents against the warm wood furniture create an intimate and quiet sanctuary that is incredibly comfortable for an extended morning session.
Score: 8.0/10
X – X-Factor
The X-factor belongs to the coffee. Serving a distinctively smooth, nutty house blend that noticeably outpaces the standard culinary offerings gives caffeine enthusiasts a reason to visit.
Score: 7.0/10
