Ah Chong is definitely one of the (new) curry laksa spots in town. I mean, it’s consistently good; balance between creaminess and heat, creating a smooth/ fragrant notes for the broth. What got me interested is their Kampar specific offerings – the fishballs, the tofu, and the curry style/ variant (lighter.). Alas I was too caught up with the red-der pictures of their traditional curry offerings.

Oh, the other thing going for this place – they have fresh cockles, Ipoh style bean sprouts, and Kampar delicacies on the side (extra charge). And their choice of noodles is expensive: includes the more elusive noodle types like Hakka noodles, and wonton noodles (rarer combo, but my preferred with curry).

I will be back. Ah Chong’s curry offerings can be had in air conditioning comfort. I think this beats most standalone curry offerings in kopitiams elsewhere. 7/10
