Char Kuey Teow, Street Food, Non-Halal
The Char Kuey Teow at Dudu Yummy is a hearty, generously portioned plate of wok-fried flat noodles that delivers on size and flavour. At RM9, it’s a big portion for what they term as a small plate. The dish arrived glistening but not overly oily. I would not mind a slightly greasier version. The combination of egg, bean sprouts, chives, and lap cheong (Chinese sausage) added layers of texture and taste, while the fresh prawns lent a sweet, briny depth.
However, despite requesting extra chilli, the heat level remains relatively mild. For those who crave a fiery kick might find themselves wishing for more spice. Another drawback is the absence of sihum (cockles), a signature ingredient in Char Kuey Teow that would have enhanced the dish with its signature briny punch.
Still, the portion size and overall execution made the CKT at Dudu Yummy a solid and satisfying meal worth trying.
