Krokop 9 Cafe
The fried nian go at Krokop 9 Cafe deserve a separate article!
After eating curry rice in the morning, I was already full, but my friend insisted that I must try their fried nian go. The result really surprised me!
The fried nian go here are RM4 per serving. They are thick-cut cakes with taro or purple sweet potato. They are fried in a pan until they are crispy on the outside and sticky on the inside, and not greasy at all. The taro cake is crispy on the outside, and when you bite it, you can feel the dense taro and the chewy rice cake. It is sweet and fragrant, and the more you chew, the better it tastes; the purple sweet potato rice cake has a natural sweetness, beautiful color, and a more refreshing taste.
The point is that they are very good at frying. The skin is golden and crispy. You won’t feel greasy after eating the whole portion. Paired with a cup of Kopi O, it is a perfect breakfast ending. Many people come to pack this fried nian go for breakfast or afternoon tea. Watching the boss lady frying it piece by piece, eating it on the spot is the most delicious!
If you want to eat fried nian go without any disappointment, this is definitely one of the must-try hidden snacks in Miri!
