Nyonya Cuisine, Pork-Free
For the Nyonya food aficionados out there, Nyonya Breeze Desire Straits Quay is a must visit for me & family whenever we drop by Penang. Can't say all their dishes are 10/10 but definitely more hits than miss and quite a few hard to find dishes. Also, price is reasonable according to my in-laws who are more used to KL prices.
This trip I managed to take some nice photos before the food got mangled up by scooping action (mainly coz in laws not around this trip so i can tell hubby & son 'wait, let me take photo first').
Sambal Petai with Prawns (pictured above)
Easily available dish but they do a nice version
Choon Phneah
I think this is the only restaurant that i can find this dish now. Taste is very close to those i had during my childhood days where by grandpa would get them from a hawker stall along Gurney Drive stretch (now long gone)
Hye Yah Char Bak
Basically cincalok fried meat - again something less common. My hubby's fav but i find abit on the sweet side though.
Kerabu Kacang Botol
Tasty but overly sweet for me.
Kua Lala
Peppery mint soup but it's call kua lala. Nostalgia for me coz my grandma used to make this.
All the above + 2 rice & 3 drinks for RM135.
Just a note from my previous visit to Nyonya Breeze Desire:
Personally, the jiu hu char (my mom makes better ones) & perut ikan not that great.
