Char Kuey Teow, Street Food
I recently dropped by Restoran MJ Wang in Sea Park, Petaling Jaya, for a simple hawker lunch. This kopitiam is a local favourite for residents in the area, housing various established stalls. I initially wanted to order the beef noodles but that was sold out.
I ordered a plate of Char Kway Teow (CKT) instead, which turned out to be a solid choice. The dish arrived with a good aroma, signalling decent skill at the wok. The taste was pleasant and hit the mark for a reliable neighbourhood plate.

One specific preference I have is for the cockles to be served unfried, allowing the residual heat of the noodles to cook them through just enough.

Char Kway Teow – RM10.00
Score: 7.0 / 10
M – Meal Value
At RM10.00 for a well-prepared plate of CKT, the value is fair for the Petaling Jaya area. It offers a satisfying portion that is neither exorbitant nor underwhelming.
Score: 7.5/10
V – Venue & Vibes
Restoran MJ Wang is a typical, clean Chinese kopitiam that has been part of the Sea Park landscape for a long time. It is a bustling, communal space that feels very authentic to the local neighbourhood.
Score: 6.5/10
X – X-Factor
The “wok hei” and the specific handling of the cockles to preserve their texture give this stall a slight edge over more generic versions.
Score: 7.0/10
