Chiefeater VK visited Hakka Kopitiam, discovering a menu that offers a much broader range of dishes than their name suggests

Hokkien, Non-Halal
After meeting, a client took us to Restoran Noble House Seafood, a famous Hokkien styled-food restaurant in the old town of Klang.

Their signature tapioca flour fried noodles (茨粉根) resembles fried Hokkien noodles, but with a chewy texture with bits of crispy fried lard, prawns and some meat. Full of wok hei and flavourful.

The crispy fried chicken with almond looks like roasted piglets, crispy skin on top of boneless ‘chicken’ meat, with a layer of almond seeds on the bottom. The ‘chicken’ meat tastes more like fish paste, slightly springy, as in the fish paste of yong tau foo. Yummy and delicious with the accompanying sauce.

Fried meat rolls has a crispy texture on the outside, with chunky meat paste inside, the taste nicely enhanced with the distinguished Chinese 5-spice powder and sesame oil.

Small bite-sized white tofu cubes in Mapo sauce was mild, and just ordinary.

Thinly sliced bitter gourd stir fry with scrambled eggs was ordinary too.

The corner shop restaurant is air-conditioned, clean and tidy. Service was prompt & parking in this old part of Klang could be difficult. Price is slightly above average.
