Wine, Cheese, Non-Halal
We were looking for a place to have a quiet drink near where we were staying and that’s when we came upon Mesa Tapas. We thought some tapas would be nice to go with some wine. By the time we arrived past 9 pm, we were informed by Eric the proprietor that their kitchen was closed but they had a cheese plate available. We were good with that. After all, it was cheese and wine.

Mesa Tapas had recently opened at their current premises in a heritage building on the corner of Leith Street and Jalan Muntri in June 2023. The outlet might not be big but it is certainly cozy. Some of the tables are designed in a booth like seating which gives each dining and drinking party some semblance of privacy. The subtle lighting and tasteful decor added to the atmosphere of intimacy, making it an ideal spot to unwind with friends and loved ones.

The cheese plate we ordered was a delight. It consisted of a heavenly camembert cheese heated in a cast iron dish, topped with a delightful combination of walnuts and cranberries. The fusion of flavors was divine, with the creamy and rich camembert beautifully complemented by the nutty crunch of the walnuts and the sweet tang of the cranberries. The cheese plate was expertly paired with a smooth and easy to drink Chilean red wine, elevating the experience.
All in, it was RM100 for a quiet drink after dinner.
Yet, the best part of our evening at Mesa Tapas was the genuine hospitality of Eric. With his wealth of experience in the F&B industry spanning over 30 years, Eric was a true gem. His warm and welcoming demeanor added a personal touch to our dining experience, making us feel right at home. It was evident that he took great pride in ensuring that each guest felt special and well taken care of.
