Chiefeater Khor Hui Min and her family had a delicious and affordable lunch at Highlands Spice Cameron Highlands

Malaysian, Pork-Free
I only have one principle when it comes to food. Just make it right.
No air-flown ingredients from an unheard-of country, no caviar, and no gold dust required. Just make it right.
Madam Kwan Empire Subang did just that.
We ordered;

Assam Prawns
Nice plump prawns in assam sauce. Good portion. Sweet, spicy and sour. The sliced onion that I assumed thrown last, right before they serve it adds a hint of crunch and freshness. I do notice I order this each time I come here.

Beef Rendang
I will skip this next time. The ingredients seem fine, but the flavour is lacking, it’s too light to be a rendang. It needs to pack more punch. You can get better rendang at some streetside nasi lemak berlauk stalls.

Kangkung Belacan
Generous. They are not scared to pile on the belacan, but it’s just enough so for it to not be tooo salty. I ate this happily with my hot rice.

Claypot Seafood Beancurd
I taste the wok hei surprisingly. It’s done right, flavour is on point, and the portion is big. My only complaint is mine didn’t come in a clay pot. Instead, it came in a steel pot. Small matter since I enjoyed myself.
I asked for cili padi potong with kicap when I had this, if you like that combo, don’t be shy to ask. Enhance your eating experience to the max, my dear friends.
PRICE
The bill came up to about RM120++ at Madam Kwan Empire Subang for the 2 of us. We paid happily and skip back home with plenty of leftovers for us to prolong our enjoyment.
AMBIANCE
Not a lot of people. It’s a tad bit romantic, maybe the effect of their lighting. Serene too.
STAFF
The staff at Madam Kwan Empire Subang were accommodating. I can’t decide where I wanna seat so they just let me change tables twice with no sour face at all. Also, I asked for them to bungkus extra cili padi potong with kicap to bring back and they packed enough for 3 days of consumption. So YAY.
