Naan, Tandoori Chicken, Pork-Free
It's a quiet Friday night with a soft drizzle coming down, no appointments or engagements this time, and I've got a serious hankering for naan. Truth be told, I haven't had many dinners outside for the past few months. I fire up my usual maps app and head over to a quiet corner of Bandar Puteri to Restoran Nasi Kandar Belanga Maju.
Naan and tandoori chicken are rarely found in the daytime. Maybe the heat from a big tandoor oven becomes overwhelming when the sun is already busy cooking up the sky. Anyway, I order up a serving of garlic naan, a plate of tandoori chicken, and two cups of coffee. I'm both famished and in need of a serious caffeine dose this time.
The garlic naan is a happy surprise. It's thick and chewy with plenty of roasted diced garlic on top. I'm more than happy to dunk the naan into the accompanying spicy, chunky dhall with whole chickpeas. Too bad the mint yogurt sauce is watery and doesn't have much flavor.
The tandoori chicken is moist on the inside, a little charred in some sections on the outside. A squeeze of lime helps to balance out the strong spices coating the meat - I can taste more than a hint of cumin, pepper and garam masala. Good stuff to warm up the belly on a cool and rainy night.
Overall, it's a decent meal that comes up to RM17.
