Chiefeater Chee Leong had the curry mee at Restoran Hoong Pin for the first time and he found it to be acceptable

Prawn Mee, Street Food, Non-Halal
Down memory lane - I first had this piping hot bowl of mee yoke 3 decades ago. I recall Kam Heong also hosted a very popular Teochew duck in the evenings. This place was a regular haunt for at least 2 decades. Restaurant Kam Heong has been one of the oldest Chinese hawker restaurants around PJ State.

Available in yellow noodles, bihun and kuay teow, the prawn mee here is exceptionally popular and locals who live nearby here love it. The soup is not too spicy and is rather sweet with the taste of fresh prawns. It also has a whole hard boiled egg in it and for those of you who love this small delicacy, there are also crispy fried shallots on top of the noodles. What’s not to love?

I do think they’ve largely maintained the standard - I was initially skeptical when I saw foreign talents manning the stall. I’d give this a 7/10. Still a very good score after decades. Those rainy mornings - it could hit 8/10.
