Was in Melaka for a couple of days for family time. On the second day was wondering where to eat and turned to Chiefeater.com for idea. Attracted to the posting on Ho Seh Huat Restaurant situated about 25 minutes from Melaka city in the town of Cheng.

It is a no frills two simple looking shop lots. They have many varieties to choose from. We settled for herba steam kampung chicken (free reign village chicken), Dong Bo meat with buns, otak otak steam eggs, and assorted vege stir fries. Order came quite fast.
The kampung chicken looked so good with with its yellow skin. The taste is so so good with the natural sweetness full of flavours. You can literally taste the nutrients pack flavour of how a good kampung chicken suppose to taste, something that we have not tasted for a long time even though we have order kampung chicken from our favourite restaurant back home which was good however this one takes it to a whole different level. The source was so good go well with steam rice we finished every drop of it.

Dong Bo pork is very well done. We had tasted from a restaurant which won 2nd placing from competition in China, but this one is way better. Rich and well blends of flavours, fats just come off easily and melts flavourfully in the mouth and the lean meat has good bites to it.

The steam eggs otak otak is well salted which brings out the flavours very well. Best steam eggs we eaten from so far. We were surprised of steam satisfying good steam eggs can be.

The stir fried mix vege is cooked well, not too crunchy which I like.

Overall we enjoyed every dishes served which goes to shows that this restaurant outside city is worth the extra minutes to get to, the higheay makes the journey relaxing. The final bill came out to be below all our guesses at RM111 ONLY!, no service charge or government tax applied.
The presence of many elderly and families that looks locals is a testament that this is a town favourite.
We declared to return when we visit Melaka again. Looks like it has won a place in our favourite restaurant list
