Big Breakfast, Pork-Free
After One KL is a yet another addition to the dining scene just off Jalan Yap Kwan Seng. I had first heard about it through Chiefeater Khor Hui Min’s review of their chicken chop. I was looking for a place that was open for breakfast and After One KL came out as one of the suggested options.
I ordered a Big Breakfast to share between Jen and I. Let me by say they delivered a satisfying take on it. The plate arrived with a generous spread: two German-style chicken sausages, tornado styled scrambled eggs, smoked salmon, house-made baked beans, half an avocado, and 2 slices of bread. At RM44, it’s on the higher end, but the quality and variety make it feel like a solid choice.

The German-style chicken sausages were a highlight—smoothly ground and densely packed, with that firm yet juicy texture that defines a good German sausage.

They paired wonderfully with the creamy, rich and tasty (no, it wasn’t tasteless) avocado and the smoked salmon, which brought a briny contrast to the plate. The scrambled eggs, however, could have used a bit more seasoning to really stand out among the other flavours. But that’s a minor gripe and I could use it as a complement to all the amazing flavours on the plate.

Despite the price, After One KL’s big breakfast is a hearty and flavourful meal. The coffee is very decent too.
