Curry Mee, Pork-Free
Coffee Island Cafe opened at gurney drive on 12 oct 2024. under the same management as bali hai seafood restaurant. spacious and relaxing environment with a wide area for dining. you can choose outdoor (2) or indoor area, which is air-con. the outdoor area consists of two parts – the al fresco part, out in the open under the sun/moon or outdoor but under covered shade (this is where i was seated). easy private parking.

although they have a QR code menu on all tables, there are also the physical menu for you to use (and i always prefer physical menu). as i had seen a few posts of the cafe mentioning that one of its dish – nanyang seafood curry noodles’ was very good, i decided to try it.
what a fancy name i thought but actually it is lemak laksa (or thai laksa?) – both the noodles and the broth are lemak laksa style. only that it comes with seafood, which were two big prawns and a few pieces of fried fish fillet. nanyang seafood curry noodles (lemak laksa!). RM22.90 quite good but broth not good enough compare to two others.fish and prawns were fresh and good though.

oh i also tapau (takeaway) the char koay teow with duck’s egg. RM15.90. wow! so many cockles. first time i see my CKT with so many cockles.er…. this is just average. well, because the cafe is muslim-friendly so no pork, no lard… so no chinese sausage. i guess maybe no chinese sausage, so the cockles are more. some people also feel CKT without lard will not taste the same but actually i can do without lard in CKT. i did find before a chinese CKT stall that is ‘muslim friendly’ but tasted very good.

my drink. soy milk with white coffee. RM8.90. nice

btw, i understand that if you go during the night, the lights will be lighted up very pretty like avatar.
