Beef Noodles, Pork-Free
saw a PenTree Georgetown ad on my news feed so decided to go and try it yesterday for lunch.
i ordered the ‘numb and spicy beef noodle’ to eat in and takeaway the ‘prawns fried rice’. for drinks, ordered their signature ‘nutmeg yalkut soda’.
the beef noodles (RM18.90), atlhough the name mentioned ‘spicy’… and er… numb?... what does that means? numb as in too spicy that one becomes numb? then the server who served me also mentioned to me it is ‘mala’ type, like fearing i cannot take spicy (mala btw means spicy too). however when i ate it, it was not spicy at all.
alamak. they use instant noodlee as the noodle. i don't really like instant noodle. one point down. another point down is the beef strips which i find just average taste but the beef balls were delicious. overall, for the whole dish, just so-so.
prawns fried rice. RM17.90 but plus RM1 for the packaging. comes in a nice packaging though - all paper, no plastic. the box container has a linningg of banana leaf too.
the bottom 3 pcs i thought are nuggets but no. inside there is something like er... the artificial crab meat.... tasted good though.
(er... paiseh. told ya' i usually not sure of what ate! haha!)
left - see, only 2 prawns and only one of the prawns is big, the other one is not big. then it shouldn't be 'prawn fried rice', because you see, there were also fish cake and small chicken pieces. so you see, all the other sides added in are more than the prawns. i finished my rice and i still have the 2 prawns and half of the fried egg left. i guess, having so much sides, thus the price is RM17.90, quite reasonable.
nutmeg yalkut soda drink. RM13.90
the photo shot i took of my drink, on the left, looks so awful, so i have to show the one from their FB. i like the glass shape. the drink was very refreshing and good.
er... there were some round pieces of what?? what you called it? (sorry i only know how to eat and so many things i eat i don't know how to call it!). they are kind of like jelly type but once put in my mouth, it melt straight away.
the cafe, being at one of those old terrace shophouses, is very long – as you can see, at the front on entering is the cashier counter, then the long stretch of dining area on right and left, and finally towards the end, the kitchen.
when i was there (a little after 1.00pm) i saw 3 tables occupied and all of them were foreigners. it may be because PenTree Georgetown is just one door away from the armenian hotel and the george town world heritage office building, where many foreigners will visit.
