Ong Ong JueJue Pot Claypot Dishes

Chinese, Claypot, Non-Halal

Description

Post by Chiefeater Lucia Lai

fancy having all dishes cooked in claypot? and when bought in front of you everything is still very warm, even while eating halfway. you can get it at Ong Ong JueJue Pot restaurant (cantonese cooking) at lorong selamat. opened only about 4 months ago while their main branch at bkt mertajam had been established long time ago. the boss here is a very young man, i understand from their FB, “a 23 yeas old who gave up college life to manage a restaurant”.

ok, so there were 5 of us dining yesterday and we decided to order dishes to go with our rice. 'chu char' type see. we ordered 4 main dishes and a snack plate. see the name and review of dishes on the pictures. btw, there are also set rice for one person.

Menu

bean paste lady fingers RM16.00
all of us like this. very yummy and not so spicy.

tomato scrambled egg RM16.00
this is just average taste

salted egg prawns RM39.00
this is very delicious... but unfortunately only 8 pcs of prawns and i get to eat any one piece. you can see bubbles around, right, means it was very hot (or warm is the correct word?) when bought to us and biting into the flesh, was almost stinging hot to the tongue.
the sauce was kind of different from other salted egg sauce i have try

cheesy chicken wings RM28.00
er... just quite ok to me but the others like it. chicken wing cooked in this way won't be so nice for me. usually for chicken wing, it will taste better if fried.

stir fried potatoe cube RM13.80 (snack plate)
wow! this is so good! very crispy type… and oh!... it was stinging hot when biting into it… almost cannot stand the heat on my tongue.
sorry this shot was taken after we had already took many pieces of it. as it came late/last, i was busy eating until i forgot to take photo of it but suddenly remember towards the end... luckily still 3 pcs left. think looks like there were about 20 pcs

free flow of soup and drinks are available. yesterday’s drink was the asam (tamarind?) drink and it was very nice. soup was the one that comes with the woflberries.

i notice all staff all are men and they were wearing the restaurant uniform (tshirt). cool. i like it that their counter area next to the row of dining area and separated by a partition. but best is that next to the counter is the cooking area where all can get to see the cooking being done.

the bill - RM128.35. not bad for 5 pax. each person only about RM25. overall i like this place - good food, price reasonable, friendly staff/boss. don't mind returning.
