Pan Mee, Street Food, Non-Halal
What started out as a casual search for a nearby delivery turned into a delightful surprise with PJ State Chong's Pan Mee at Restoran 2+1 in Puchong. This stall is the one that has made its mark at Kam Heong Coffee Shop. Both the soup and dry versions were standouts, the sort of simple, comforting fare that makes you grateful for neighbourhood gems.
The soup pan mee (RM13 on the delivery platform) came with broad, hand-torn noodles that had just the right thickness and chew, swimming in a broth layered with anchovy depth, sweetness from the sayur manis, and a savoury note from minced pork. The earthy slices of shiitake mushroom gave it more body, while crispy anchovies and fried shallots added that essential textural crunch. It was hearty without being heavy, a bowl that felt both rustic and well-balanced.
The dry pan mee (RM14 on the delivery platform), on the other hand, was unabashedly bold. Tossed with a rich, spicy chilli paste that clung to the flat noodles, every mouthful was a satisfying mix of heat, smokiness, and umami. The crunch of ikan bilis against the chew of noodles made it addictive, the sort of dish where you keep going back for “just one more bite” until the bowl is clean.
With a 25% discount on the delivery platform, the two items came up just up RM20.35 inclusive of delivery.
