Fried Rice
The Roast Pork Fried Rice at Lim Ko Pi Sunway turned out to be a good surprise.
I wasn’t expecting too much from what looked like a fairly straightforward plate of fried rice, but it was actually well executed. There was good heat through the rice, giving it that properly fried character without becoming overly greasy.
What really made the dish for me was the roast pork. For an additional RM1, there were decent chunks of siew yoke mixed throughout the rice, and importantly, the roast pork skin was still crispy.
That’s the part that impressed me. Once roast pork gets tossed together with rice and the other ingredients, it is very easy for the crackling to lose its texture. Here, I could still get that crunch from the skin together with the fattiness of the pork.
The rice itself had egg, carrots and spring onions running through it, but thankfully they didn’t distract from the two things that mattered most: the heat on the rice and the roast pork.
Sometimes a simple dish done properly is enough. This was one of those occasions.
Signature Fried Rice – RM14.90
Add Roast Pork – RM1.00
Hot Classic Kopi – RM6.80
Total: RM22.70
MVX Score: 8.0/10
M – Meal Value
RM15.90 for the fried rice with roast pork was reasonable. There was a decent amount of siew yoke in the rice and, more importantly, it was cooked well enough that I would order it again.

V – Venue
A modern air-conditioned kopitiam inside Sunway Geo Avenue. Comfortable and convenient if you’re already around Bandar Sunway, although the setting itself isn’t really the reason to come here.
Score: 7.5/10
X – X-Factor
The crispy roast pork skin was the surprise. Getting good heat into the fried rice while still keeping the siew yoke skin crunchy made this considerably better than I expected.
