Char Kuey Teow, Street Food, Non-Halal
ancient taste char koay teow? (and famous too so the sign says). strange name. guess it means also ‘ko ca bi’ char koay teow (CKT). was it a translation of ‘ko ca bi’ to english so make it as ‘ancient’? er…. but ancient is not so appropriate to describe a food. anyway i guess seller was thinking if put ‘ko ca bi’ the non chinese (or even non hokkien as this is hokkien) might not understand so use ‘ancient’ lah.
anyway what is suppose to be ancient taste? i don’t live that long to know! i'm old but not yet ancient. haha. i’m taking it as ko ca bi CKT. well what’s so ko ca bi about it? if it means having all the original sides (last time use to refer to it as ‘ingredients’ but i think it is wrong, should be s’sides’. inside that a kcb CKT should have, yes, this CKT have all that. using charcoal to fry? i think so. er, the stall was kind of too front i didn’t really notice it.
yes there were chinese sausage, cockles, spring onion, crispy lard but the cockles were so tiny i nearly missed seeing them. how was this ancient taste ckt? well frankly speaking, just average to me. it was nice i mean but not as nice as the so many popular ones out there (e.g. no. 5 ckt also has all these sides and thus kcb and it is very delicious). well even if compare to the non popular but good ones, about the same.
A plate of CKT at RM7.
morning session is all hawkers stall plus economy rice stall. evening session, no hawkers stall except the ‘white hair’ sar hor fun stall, plus a ‘chu char’stall
