Chiefeater Aun Chuan made a visit to the legendary apom manis sold at Ravi’s Claypot Apom in Pulau Tikus

Nasi Kandar, Pork-Free
I was at Kota Warisan for a startup event in Xiamen University and decided to discover food offerings there after the event. Kota Warisan seems to be Nasi Kandar central and I figured there must be a reason for that. I’ve been on a bit of an Indian culinary adventure recently and decided it should continue at Azhar Maju Sepang.

As I walked in, I was greeted by the colours of delectable curries and sides that promised a satisfying meal ahead.

My nasi kandar was a delightful assortment of curries that harmoniously blended sweet and savoury notes. The curry selection included aubergine, bitter gourd, and a perfectly cooked hard-boiled egg, alongside tender, boneless mutton that practically melted in my mouth. Each curry was distinct yet complemented the others, a symphony of flavours on my plate.

What struck me most was the balance in the curries—just spicy enough to tickle the taste buds without overwhelming them. The mutton, in particular, was a standout, showcasing the skilful marination and slow cooking that imparted a depth of flavour.

The dining experience at Azhar Maju Sepang is refreshingly straightforward, focusing on delivering hearty and authentic Malaysian Indian cuisine without pretense. And the best part was its wallet friendliness. My Nasi Kandar was just RM16.50.
