Chiefeater Luke Soon went in to Primal Cut for a steak but found it was the sides of grilled octopus and cauliflower that shone

Bar Milano by Eataly Flatiron. Eataly @ Flatiron is everything Italian. It’s little Italia if there was such a thing. The sights and sounds and smells, are all Italian! There are a lot of Italians in NYC (history has it that back in WW2 the mafia bosses migrated to this city),
We went on a walk to nearby Flatiron (tallest building in the world back in the 1920s), and did a pit stop at Eataly. I was fascinated by all the freshly made pasta and Italy imported ingredients at Eataly. There were 4-5 restaurants serving Italian fare - pesce, pizza etc. It’s open mercato style, open market style - if you’ve been to the Harrod’s food market, then you’d be right at home here at Eataly. Except everything is Italian.
We chose Bar Milano by Eataly.
The risotto was above average as you’d expect - 7/10.
The spaghetti pomodoro was an unexciting 6.5/10 (for Eataly), but it was freshly made pasta nonetheless.
Overall a unique experience weighing in at 6.5/10 - don’t expect a Michelin experience. For the chefs out there- you’d be better off picking up ingredients here and whipping up some magic at home.
Total damage was USD88 for 2 dishes and 2 Lambruscos.
