It was getting dusk as I drove up to the small eatery, Big Baba Happy Mansion, tucked away under the Happy Mansion apartments. My friend whom I was meeting had this eatery recommended to her and she thought she'd try out a meal with me.
Walking into the eatery, one is welcomed with the usual Peranakan decoration of tiffin carriers, little pots and other knick-knacks that transport you back to Melaka. Seated at the small table, I perused the menu and found familiarity in it, smiling and thought of my late mother-in-law who's great cook herself and has cooked some dishes on the menu.
My friend arrived and we quickly ordered pai tee, fish curry and a simple stir-fry vege dish. Dinner was served fairly quick and we plunged into deep conversation while savouring it. Guys, if you do decide to visit this eatery, their pai tee is worth ordering. The fish curry and vege were just as good, no complain. It was a simple but great dinner. I would probably come back again for another meal.
