Satay
One of the things I enjoy about Tanjung Ria Kitchen at Hyatt Regency Kinabalu in Kota Kinabalu is being able to order a dozen satay skewers and mix chicken, beef and lamb in the same serving.
At RM38 for 12 sticks, that flexibility is a welcome touch. Rather than having to settle for just one type of meat, I could enjoy all three.

And the satay was lovely!
The chicken, beef and lamb were all tender and juicy. What I particularly appreciated was that the skewers weren’t oily. There was none of that excessive greasiness that sometimes accompanies grilled meat.

All three varieties were good, and I couldn’t single out one as being noticeably better than the others.

The satay arrived with peanut sauce, ketupat and cucumber. It was a generous-looking platter, with the different meats arranged together on a banana leaf.
I accompanied the satay with a 1602 Pale Ale (RM30), served cold in a glass mug with a lovely head of foam.

M – Meal Value
The dozen mixed satay skewers represented good value at RM38, especially given the tender, juicy meat and the absence of excessive oiliness. The flexibility to combine chicken, beef and lamb made the order even more appealing. The RM30 pale ale brought the known subtotal to RM68.
