Murtabak Sardin at Bunga Raya Muslim Food, Empress Market. It was Christmas Day, and I thought let’s not eat Western food. And since the local bak chor mee was closed – i did the next best thing. My daughter’s fav roti prata stall. Yes, for some reason its prata here, and canai in Malaysia
But what’s similar is what’s called a murtabak. There’s mutton and there’s sardine murtabak. My passion for sardines made it an easy choice. To be honest, I’ve not had roti in any form since my 20s. Really. That was Sri Devi’s or Devi’s Corner in Bangsar, when Finnegan’s was still around.

The sardine murtabak came out great, possibly for reasons above- I give it 6.5/10 for now. Will average out the scores over time – that’s how I do my sampling – repeating so called ‘famous’ items on the menu in search of consistency.

SGD6 for a sardine murtabak. Happy Christmas ChiefEaters- to an even better 2025!
