This is one of the best hokkien prawn mee I ever had and it’s not in Penang but JB. Here you can add on pig tail seen here, pork ribs, liver, intestines and even extra large ( iqf ) prawns for RM38 to RM55 each.
Somehow adding roast pork / siobak never caught on here nor Singapore. In Penang siobak is affectionately called hokkien mee ‘s best friend. If we are having a fav hokkien mee with friends it is customary that we pop over at a roasted meats stall n buy a strip of chopped siobak to add on.
The crackling skin, fragrant fat and salty meat is the perfect accompaniment.
