Located on Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, facing the SOGO shopping mall, this old coffee shop, Capital Cafe, is really full of strong Malaysian flavor! As soon as you step in, you feel like you have returned to the old days. The simple atmosphere makes people feel particularly warm instantly. What’s even more special is that this is not just a traditional tea room familiar to the Chinese, it is actually filled with compatriots of all ethnic groups, enjoying food and chatting together. It is really the best portrayal of “One Malaysia”!
This old coffee shop has been in business for decades, and even the decoration inside still retains the traditional old-style style, full of nostalgia. The food in the store is even more mouth-watering, especially the Indonesian Nasi Padang rice stall that has been in business since 1956 and has been passed down to the second generation. It is definitely the soul of this place!
Hj. Asril's Nasi Padang here is not just for casual eating. There are more than 20 traditional Indonesian dishes for you to choose from, all of which are classic! I particularly recommend their beef rendang. The meat is tender and flavourful, with that old-school traditional flavor that makes you unable to stop eating one bite after another. There is also their dry-fried beef lung, which has a particularly crispy texture. Each piece is fried just right, with a slight burnt aroma, it is really amazing!
Of course, don’t forget to try their Indonesian potato balls (PERGEDEL), which are soft and soft in texture, fried to golden brown on the outside, but very delicate on the inside. With a little chili aigua, the taste instantly rises to another level!
If you are a foodie, you really can’t miss this old coffee shop. Not only is the food delicious, but it also contains touching stories of multicultural integration and life. Next time you have a chance to be near SOGO, remember to stop and go in to feel the taste of old Malaysia!
