Today my sister and I went to a cafe hidden in the Puchong car factory area – Empat Sekawan. This restaurant does not allow reservations at all, you can only get a number on site and wait for a table. There was a huge crowd, but luckily we only had to wait for half an hour to get a seat.
The cafe was converted from a small factory building and has a spacious space with unique and ingenious decoration. The name Empat Sekawan itself is full of nostalgia, reminiscent of the happy times when the whole family gathered in front of the TV to watch the classic comedy “Empat Sekawan” when we were young. The brand concept is even more heartwarming, with “home” as the core, combining traditional flavors with modern cafe culture to create a dining experience suitable for different age groups, allowing the whole family to share warm moments here.
The menu is very rich, with main dishes, snacks, desserts and drinks!
Recommended staple food
• Fish Head noodles – the fried fish pieces are large and solid, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, paired with rich milk soup and dense taro, every bite is satisfying.
• Asam Laksa – spicy and sour, generous amount of fish, rich soup base, very appetizing.
• Fresh Shrimp Pasta – Pasta mixed with olive oil, full of garlic aroma, and the shrimp meat is fresh and chewy. It is simple but full of flavor.
Dessert Highlights
• Bubur Chacha – Lots of ingredients, including big cubes of taro, sweet potato, colorful soft balls, tapioca pearls, and everything else. The coconut milk is rich and sweet but not greasy.

• Teochew Red Peach Cake – a traditional Teochew dim sum, steamed to order, soft, glutinous and sweet. The mixed vegetable cake, taro cake and chive cake are all excellent, especially the fried vegetable cake, which is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with a unique taste!

• Jian Dumplings – Unfortunately, this was average. Hope it can be improved in the future.

The menu here is thick, and each dish showcases the fusion of Malaysia’s diverse cultures. From the environment to the food, Empat Sekawan is not just a cafe, but a lifestyle full of memories. If you like traditional food, nostalgic atmosphere, and want to find a place suitable for family gatherings, this place is definitely worth a try!
