Wong Hon Kee Dinner

- RM20 - RM50 per pax
Chiefeater Howard Chan celebrated the new year with several friends with a simple dinner at Wong Hon Kee Restaurant in Raub
Bak Kut Teh, Street Food, Non-Halal
It was a cold day and I thought it would be a good day for something hot and soupy. That’s when my wife told me that Fei Zai Bak Kut Teh had re-opened. So we decided to order some porky goodness from him to show our support.
As you can see, I don’t often have BKT. It’s one of my nemesis foods. I know that if I take it for dinner, it will surely result in a weight gain the next day. But since it was a weekend, I decided it was OK. And it was a cold day too. I needed the warmth.
Fei Zai Bak Kut Teh is not your herbal type of BKT. The broth has a sweetness to it which comes from the use of sugar cane as an ingredient. If you like your BKT with a strong medicinal or herbal flavour, then this might not the BKT for you. But if you like it with a lighter maybe even sweeter broth, then this hits the spot.
We ordered a serving for 3 pax which came with pork belly, pork ribs, stomach, mushrooms and you tiau. The meat was flavourful and maintained a nice firmness to it, without being mushy. And it came with lots of extra soup too.
All in with delivery, our order from Fei Zai Bak Kut Teh came up to RM65.
