Nasi Lemak, Pork-Free
After watching youtube about nasi lemak at Kg Baru we decided to check it out. Headed to Gerai Pak Hassan Kampung Baru along Jalan Raja Abdullah for Nasi Lemak. It was reviewed that their sambal is not as sweet compared to another popular outlet.
The roti canai paired excellently with the self serving chicken legs curry. The curry is surprisingly good, with well balance and even taste (so good you can enjoy it on it’s own), go very well with the crispy roti canai. Our roti canai came rather burn but was still crispy and tasted good. The winner is the chicken legs curry which we have not tasted at any other place before. Simply satisfying. No wonder customers were seen scoping big servings of it.

As for the nasi lemak the star is the sambal sotong (dried cuttle fish). For those who likes sotong to be chewy this is the go to place to satisfy your sotong craving. The portion that was served is very large, enough to satisfy to heart content. I find the nasi lemak rice to be average (not enough santan kelapa, coconut milk) and the ayam goreng is below my expectation.

Price is reasonable at RM22 for a roti canai, a nasi lemak with sotong, fried chicken and fried egg, and two Nescafe. Service is fast and efficient, under the alert eyes of the lady boss manning the counter, enjoyed hearing her good customer service intersections and her directing the show from her sit. Go early as the tent sheds can be rather hot by noon time.
