Wong Hon Kee Dinner
Chinese, Non-Halal
- RM20 - RM50 per pax
Chiefeater Howard Chan celebrated the new year with several friends with a simple dinner at Wong Hon Kee Restaurant in Raub
Chicken Rice, Non-Halal
A drive to Klang led us to Hiong Kee Chicken Rice, which is touted to be one of Klang’s best chicken rice. We had a platter of half a chicken and they had an option for us to mix roast and steamed chicken in it. We added a plate of taugeh and a bowl of pork meatballs as well. All that came up to RM38.80.
While both types of chicken were well seasoned, their meats differed. The steamed chicken was tough but the roast chicken was the opposite. The roast chicken meat was tender. We should have noticed that most of the diners at Hiong Kee Chicken Rice ordered the roast chicken instead of the steamed chicken.
The winner at Hiong Kee Chicken Rice was really the rice. The rice was fragrant (the aroma hit me before I even ate it). If you have a limited quota for the consumption of rice (like me) then this is worth the carb-tax. I forgot to take a picture of the rice. Makan too fast.
