India Gate Restaurant Klang is another outpost of this popular chain specializing in Indian cuisine. They offer a diverse menu featuring both North and South Indian dishes, along with Indo-Chinese delicacies and modern desserts such as cakes and ice cream, catering to a wide audience.

What we had

Mixed Tandoori Platter
A delightful assortment of tandoori favorites including tandoori chicken, chicken kebab, mutton kebab, tangdi kebab, malai tikka, fish tikka, and prawn tikka. These were served with green pudina chutney, onion rings, lemon wedges, and a fresh salad. The meats were exceptionally well-marinated, bursting with flavors that complemented each other beautifully.

South Indian Banana Leaf Set
This traditional feast included Ponni rice with a choice of three gravies: sambar, rasam, and puli curry. It was accompanied by kootu, poriyal, potato poriyal, salted dry chili, papadam, udupi pachadi, mango pickle, paruppu podi, thimpu pachadi, ghee, and fryums. The vibrant variety and authentic flavors made this a standout dish.

North Indian Special Thali with Butter Chicken Masala
This thali featured aromatic basmati rice, a choice of roti or naan, butter chicken masala, mixed vegetables, aloo chana masala, fried vegetables, dal tadka, achaar, roasted papad, and an Indian dessert. Each component was well-seasoned and complemented the others, making it a hearty and satisfying meal.

The overall flavor profile was excellent, with each dish showcasing a balance of spices and seasoning. The meats in the tandoori platter were especially notable for their succulent texture and deep marination. Both thali sets offered an impressive variety and stayed true to the essence of Indian cuisine.

While the food was delightful, the service experience left room for improvement. The restaurant was bustling during lunch hours, making it challenging to flag down staff for orders or refills. Some language barriers also made communication difficult. Improved coordination and multilingual staff could enhance the overall dining experience.
