Ban Chang Kuih, Dessert, Street Food, Pork-Free
Ban chien kueh or peanut pancake is a popular street food in our country. People who love this pancake eat it throughout the day, from breakfast to supper. This small stall is one of the several stalls offering peanut pancakes outside the Kampar Market in the morning.
The friendly proprietor, Mr Wong, has been selling this pancake for more than 30 years. He learnt the trade from his father. His pancake is not thick and not too sweet, just right for my personal taste.

The pancake is allowed to cook slowly over the low flame.

When it is cooked, it is gently lifted from one side of the flat round pan.

The pancake is folded into two on the pan.

Then it is lifted and placed on a wooden cutting board and allowed to cool for a few minutes.

Mr Wong cuts the big piece of pancake into 10 smaller pieces.

Each piece costs RM1.10 and if we buy the whole batch of ten pieces, it is RM10.50 only.

Besides the pancake, Mr Wong sells homemade coconut candy, RM8.00 per packet.

The price list at the stall.
1 piece – RM1.10
10 piecss – RM10.50
