Chiefeater Connie TSS found Honcho Pizza Parlour to be a low-profile pizza place whose flavours spoke well for themselves

One of the dishes that excel at bringing forth flavours while still remaining a healthy choice has to be fish soup, and it’s made even better when made with good stuff such as giant grouper. What’s more, King Grouper Fish Soup not only knows how to properly highlight the freshness of this premium fish, but they also rear their own fish in a fish farm.
This one’s a franchise with 30+ stalls island wide- but a first for me. Instead of their namesake / eponym, I went for my usual go to pomfret fish soup at $13 (Small). If you’d like the (L), that will set you back $17-$19
Comes with your usual carbs, mee sua, rice etc. Didn’t have their grouper (which is farmed), so can only rate the pomfret – which was good at 6.5/10
They threw in a few pork meatballs to increase the depth of the flavours / soup stock. It’s not the lightest nor heaviest soup broth variants I’ve had before – right in the middle – balanced.
As part of the larger Sg “native” dishes that are of Teochew origins – the humble
Fish Soup really stands out (for me). This and chicken rice, as I’ve expressed before, are the only plausible “world class” hawker options in my opinion. The competition is tough – just like Omakase, how fresh your seafood is and your broth (and your chilli sauce dip). These 3 variables will decide the winners vs losers..
