Hailam Kuey Teow, Street Food, Pork-Free
Good food in unlikely places. This time it’s at the Kota Permai Driving Range. For years, my husband and I have kept to our weekly dinner date at the least likely place you would go for dinner … at a driving range! It was our go to place until the cook. Adik decided to call it quits during MCO. For close to 2 years, I have been searching for a replacement Hailam Kuey Teow and Kampung Fried Chicken but to no avail.
Until last week in Seoul, I received a picture of adik and a message.. SHE IS BACK! from my husband. Today, my tastebuds finally got a chance to savour the flavour which only my brain could relish these past two years.
The fried chicken was juicy, with just the right hint of spice and umami. The Hailam Kuey Teow was like it has always been. Not sweet but savoury with a hint of vinegar. Perfect with freshly cut chili padi and laden with vegetables. Finished with a glass of limau ais. I am in heaven. All this for the price of RM22.50. Yes I am a cheap date. I think that’s why my husband married me.
P.S – the Teh Tarik, Mee Goreng and Kuey Teow Basah and Nasi Goreng Pattaya is good too!
