Chiefeater Chee Leong tried the different types of nasi lemak at Kedai Kopi Makanan Nam Wah in Ulu Langat for breakfast
Pork Knuckles, Non-Halal
For dinner, I visited Lu Jia Restaurant, a new restaurant specializing in claypot dishes. Intrigued by their offerings, I ordered a Braised Pork Knuckle in a claypot (RM58) and a Stir Fried Tau Geh or bean sprouts (RM12). The tau geh, while crunchy in texture, unfortunately lacked significant flavour. It was rather bland.
On the other hand, the pork knuckle claypot showcased fresh and tender meat that easily fell off the bone. The pork knuckle was notably flavourful, enhancing the overall dish. However, similar to the tau geh, the tofu in the claypot also leaned toward the bland side, missing that extra touch of seasoning or flavour.
While Lu Jia's claypot dishes have potential, the execution fell short in terms of seasoning and flavour for some components. The standout at Lu Jia Restaurant was definitely the braised pork knuckle, offering juicy and tasty meat, but improvements could be made to elevate the overall taste experience, particularly with the tau geh and tofu elements.
Our meal for 3 pax came up to RM97.
