Waffle, Non-Halal
After a long hiatus, I found myself back at Luckee Canteen which has been renamed to Luckee Cafe & Bar, curious to see if my old favourites still held up. I went straight for the Pork Italiano (RM26), a dish made with pork shoulder, and I’m happy to report that it remains just as good as I remembered. The juicy, tender pork, seasoned to perfection, delivered that same hearty satisfaction that first won me over. It’s always a relief when a place manages to maintain its standards over time, and Luckee Canteen has done just that with this dish.

Feeling adventurous, I decided to also try one of their desserts—Eve’s Temptation (RM17), a waffle dish that sounded promising on paper. According to their menu, it features warm apple cinnamon chunks atop a crisp waffle, with creamy vanilla ice cream nestled in between. While the flavours were enjoyable, especially the cinnamon apples, the waffle itself left me wanting more. It was too lightly constructed for my liking and began to break apart almost as soon as it was served. A stronger, sturdier waffle could have really elevated this dish, giving it the texture it needed to complement the flavours. As it stands, Eve’s Temptation falls somewhere in the middle—pleasant but with room for improvement.

Nonetheless, Luckee Cafe continues to be a place where good meals are found, and I’d still return for that Pork Italiano any day.
