Vietnamese
Sunway Pyramid’s dining landscape is vast, but An Viet Sunway Pyramid remains a steady choice for those seeking the clean, vibrant notes of Vietnamese cuisine.

On this visit, the kitchen delivered a meal of contrasting fortunes, where the traditional liquid-gold of their broth fared better than the structural components of their Bahn Mi.
Jen found plenty of satisfaction in her Clam Noodles. The broth was a bright, aromatic affair, balanced with lemongrass and chili, providing a light yet savory backdrop for the fresh clams. It’s the kind of soulful, restorative dish that An Viet Sunway Pyramid usually executes with a fair degree of precision.

My experience with the Banh Mi, however, was a more standard affair. To the kitchen’s credit, the baguette was technically sound. It had an airy interior and a satisfyingly crisp crust that didn’t shatter into a thousand shards. Unfortunately, the meat filling lacked that punchy, marinated depth required to make a Banh Mi truly memorable; it was perfectly edible, but decidedly just “ok.”

To wash it down, I tried one of the beers from Vietnamese craft selection that they had.

The Heart of Darkness is a brewery hailing from Saigon. While it was an interesting diversion into the world of New World hops, it ultimately confirmed my palate’s loyalties. I think I shall be sticking to my preferred German beers for future outings.

Score: 7.2/10
M – Meal Value
The pricing at AnViet reflects its position as a mid-range mall restaurant. While the noodle dishes offer good value for their technical execution, the craft beer significantly bumps up the bill.
Score: 7.0/10
V – Venue & Vibes
The restaurant features a modern, clean, and leafy aesthetic that provides a calm respite from the frantic energy of Sunway Pyramid. The open kitchen and warm lighting make it a welcoming spot for a relaxed lunch.
Score: 8.0/10
X – X-Factor
The availability of Vietnamese craft beers. While it wasn’t a personal hit for me, seeing a Vietnamese restaurant bring Saigon craft flavors to Malaysia is a commendable touch.
