Cantonese
Canton Kitchen Happy Garden is not exactly an easy to find place though it’s conveniently sited with parking since the access to their main door is via the building’s car park.

The food at Canton Kitchen Happy Garden turned out to be significantly better than I had anticipated.

Yam Ring with Pork Rib

One of the highlights was their rich curry dish, which structurally reminded me of a traditional pun choi due to its generous, diverse combination of proteins. The claypot came loaded with a mix of roast pork, chicken, tau pok, and pork rind—essentially everything but the kitchen sink—making for an incredibly layered and flavorful dish.

The fish also delivered a standout flavor profile. The steamed patin fish was excellent, imbued with a very strong, distinct sweetness imparted by a heavy topping of savory choy poh (preserved radish).

Additionally, the Guang Xi stuffed tofu balls were very good, boasting a beautifully texturized tau pok shell packed tightly with seasoned filling. Across the board, the kitchen treats classic Cantonese-style comfort staples with impressive care.

Canton Kitchen Happy Garden has several private rooms that either have one table or two tables. They also have a larger event hall which takes over 100 pax.

M – Meal Value
At around RM48 per pax for a massive, multi-dish banquet lunch that accommodates a large group with premium seafood and heavy poultry dishes, the value is highly reasonable. The generous ingredient portioning across the specialized claypots and platters justifies the final bill easily.
Score: 7.5/10
V – Venue & Vibes
The restaurant provides a bright, spacious, and comfortably air-conditioned environment that is perfectly optimized for family gatherings and round-table group dining. It maintains an organized, classic Chinese restaurant charm without feeling outdated.
Score: 7.6/10
X – X-Factor
The X-factor is the pun choi style ingredient assembly in their specialty curry. Combining deep-fried pork rind, roast pork, succulent chicken, and texturized beancurd puffs inside a single, deeply aromatic curry base creates a unique, hyper-savory signature that sets their gravy dishes apart.
Score: 7.7/10
